The West is a dangerous place, the thin blue line of the Lawmen is stretched ever thinner by the fear of reprisals making many unwilling to step forward and take the tin star. In the years that followed the Ore War, there were hundreds of UR-30 Automen destined for alternative employment in power stations and other dangerous roles. It was Marshal Mariano Barela who first deployed UR-30’s as so-called ‘lawbots’. Successful in a limited fashion, they were given a tin star, a brace of pistols and sanctioned for deployment to the care of marshals and sheriffs all across the Union. These Vitruvian Simulacra might lack the emotion and instinct of the flesh and blood deputies, but they know the law and that alone makes them excellent (and impartial) representatives of justice. Of course, having a metal skull and spinal column is extremely handy in an occupation where being shot at or having chairs broken over your head is commonplace.
